For us, books and candles were always our faithful companions for escaping reality. The books laid out the blueprint for whichever world we were stepping into, while the candles granted the aroma for us to be fully immersed into the story.
Moments like this are what inspired Tome Candles. We wanted to share this ritual with fellow books lovers so they too can take the journey into whichever world is calling to them. You have the blueprint, we have the aroma to fill in the empty space.

Meet The Founders
When slowing down to unwind, indulge in the daily ritual of burning our book-inspired candles. Our custom-crafted scents will transform your space into a cozy nook for exploration, reflection, and leisure.
Tōme Candles is a Black & woman owned candle brand, built in Los Angeles by sisters Kim and Kayla Hill. We grew up with shelves full of stories, a diverse taste in literary genres, and an inherited knack for creating a relaxing home. Books and candles will always be our faithful companions to kindle our senses and expand the reality of what’s possible.
Made with joy and care, the two of us hand-pour our candles in small batches with cotton wicks and natural apricot-coconut wax that is vegan and cruelty-free. We collaborate with a renowned and innovative perfume house to craft luxurious scents with phthalate-free and paraben-free fragrances and essential oils. Our vessels are destined to be enjoyed and repurposed by you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are your candles hand-made and eco-friendly?
Yes, our candles are hand-poured by us. We have selected ingredients that are organic, toxic-free and natural - we wanted to create candles that we would feel fine burning for ourselves, our pets and family and friends when they are over. We take pride in creating environmentally friendly candles and hope you enjoy them!
What can I do if my candle tunnels?
We're sorry to hear that your candle is tunneling. This happens when the candle has not burned long enough for the wax to fully melt to the edge of the container.
To fix this issue, we recommend burning the candle for at least 2-3 hours during the first burn or until the wax melts evenly to the edges of the container. This will help to prevent tunneling and ensure that the candle burns evenly in the future.

What wax is used to make your candles?
Our candles use a special, unique blend of coconut and apricot wax that's all-natural, vegan, sustainable and free of paraffin, soy, and palm oil. It's also sustainable and eco-friendly, and is the a great choice for anyone who wants enjoy a high-quality candle without harming the environment.
We love this wax because it burns cleanly and smells amazing, and we think you will too!
I placed an order, where is my shipment?
Our processing time typically ships within 3 business days after your purchase. Domestic shipping times range from 2-4 business days (excluding Sundays and holiday rush periods).

I entered in the incorrect address, can you help?
Please be careful when placing your order and enter in the correct address.
If your order hasn't shipped yet, please shoot us an email asap and we'll try our best to fix the address before it gets sent out!
If the order has already shipped, we. are unable to change the shipping address or cancel the order.
What is your return policy?
We aim to provide you with the best customer experience possible and we take customer satisfaction very seriously.
RETURNS
Due to the nature of our products, used candles cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded. Please note we also do not offer refunds on change of mind purchases, and cannot exchange or refund custom/limited edition/collaboration candles.
DAMAGES AND ISSUES
However, we will replace or refund products damaged in transit from shipping, for orders purchased from www.tomecandles.com. Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we may evaluate the order and make it right.
In the unlikely event that your items arrive damaged or defective, please contact us within [48 hours] of receiving your order.
- To facilitate a replacement or refund, please provide clear photos of the damaged or defective items along with your order details.
- We will gladly replace the damaged or defective items or issue a refund, whichever you prefer, once the claim is verified.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return to let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

Please note: we cannot accept exchanges, returns or refunds on sale items, gift cards, limited edition/collaboration items, or any item that is older than 30 days since date of purchase.

I received my order but it was damaged, now what?
If you have received a damaged or incorrect item, we will refund or replace the item as quickly as possible, if photographic proof of damage and receipt is submitted to hello@tomecandles.com within 48 hours of arrival.
Do you ship internationally?
Thank you for your interest in our candles! At this time, we're unable to ship our products internationally, but we're working hard to expand our reach in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
If you have any friends or family who live within our shipping area, we'd be happy to fulfill your order and ship it to their address. Thank you again for your support, and we hope to serve you in the future!
